Burlesque legend

Camille 2000

Camille is the cosmic queen of burlesque and was a star in burlesque for 20 years and known for her beautiful prop work that was choreographed by famous burlesque choreographer Paul Markoff. Camille also had lavish costumes heavily beaded with rhinestones galore created by famous burlesque designers Simon Sorr and Hedy Jo Starr... just to name a few. The first 10 years of her career Camille did traditional burlesque with beaded gowns, fans, capes and boas and she even had a tribute to Marilyn Monroe.

Within the last ten years of her career, Camille introduced aggressive art to burlesque with her performance art style tribute to Marquis de Sade. In her black widow act she wore a leather body harness and mask then killed herself on stage. Other performers opined that these acts were not burlesque, but Camille held onto her style and these acts opened the door to what is now known as Neo-Burlesque.

No one was doing what Camille brought to the art form with her powerful acts, captivating audiences like no other!
